Thomas returning to Blue Ridge coaching staff

ST. GEORGE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A familiar face will be on the sidelines when Blue Ridge takes the football field next season. Former head coach Tim Thomas will return to the school as defensive coordinator.

Thomas went 25-15 in his four years as head coach. The Barons reached the VISAA playoffs in each of the past three seasons, including a 9-2 season in 2016 that ended with a 41-14 win at North Cross to capture the VISAA Division II state title. Thomas was also an assistant coach when Blue Ridge won a state championship in 2012.

He spent last season as an running backs coach at Walton High School in Georgia. He was also the head coach of the school's JV team.
