Thompson gets first win as 'Hoos top Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia holds on to beat Old Dominion 73-67 on the road to give Tina Thompson her first career victory as head coach.

The Cavaliers lead at halftime 35-31, but the Monarchs kept it close down the stretch before Virginia finished with four straight field goals. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Cavaliers against the Monarchs.

Virginia was lead by Jocelyn Willoughby with 14 points along with double-digit efforts from Dominique Toussaint and Mone Jones with 11 each and 10 from Felicia Aiyeotan. Old Dominion's Victoria Morris lead all scorers with 17 points.

Thompson and the Cavaliers will return home next to face North Carolina A&T on Tuesday.
