CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- After trailing by five runs, the Tom Sox put together a late rally capped by Kirby McMullen's walk-off home run in the ninth to top Purcellville 17-16 and snap a four-game losing streak.
The Cannons got off to a quick start after a first inning home run, but the Tom Sox Walker Imwalle responded in the third inning with a three-run home run. The Cannons went on to give three straight balks, which brought in two runs for the Tom Sox to go up 5-1.
But the Cannons responded with three straight innings with three or more runs to go up 12-7 heading into the seventh inning. The Tom Sox rally started in the seventh, but exploded in the eighth with seven runs scored to lead 16-12.
After the Cannons tied it up in ninth, Kirby McMullen, who was just activated earlier this week, hit a walk-off home run to cap the game.
The 17-16 game was the highest scoring game in Tom Sox history. Charlottesville travels on Monday to play Covington for a makeup game.
