WAYNESBORO, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Thomas Francisco hit a two out single to right field to score the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning and the Tom Sox beat the Generals 2-1 Friday night.
Friday night was Francisco's debut with the Tom Sox. He went 3-5 in the win.
Dan Harwood drove in the other Tom Sox run with a fourth inning single to give the team a 1-0 lead. That lead would hold until the eighth inning with Waynesboro's Santiago Garcia led off the inning with a solo home run to make it 1-1.
Five Tom Sox pitchers combined to allow just one run on six hits, led by starter Devin Hemenway, who allowed two hits and one walk in four innings of work. After Charlottesville scored the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth, Alaska Abney came on to close it in the bottom of the inning, allowing one hit to preserve the win.
With the win, Charlottesville improves to 9-6 on the season and winners of three of their last four.
