CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A fifth inning rally pushes the Charlottesville Tom Sox through for a 10-6 win over Woodstock in an early battle of the Valley League's best records.
After a slow start, the River Bandits took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by Cody Warner in the third inning. The Tom Sox answered with a Chase Sanguinetti RBI-single, who was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
Down 5-3 in the fifth, the Tom Sox loaded the bases before the River Bandits allowed two walks, bringing home the tying run. With the bases still loaded later in the inning, Kevin Madden doubled to center to bring home the go-ahead runs.
The Tom Sox would three more in the eighth after Ramon Garza hit a bases-clearing double to make it 10-6.
The Tom Sox look to close out their three-game home stand against Waynesboro on Friday night, with both teams tied for the league's best record at 4-1.
