Tom Sox top New Market to win third straight

NEW MARKET, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Tom Sox got out to an early lead Wednesday night and held on to beat New Market 6-4 for their third straight win.

The Tom Sox got a jump start in the third inning on a three-run home run by Kirby McMullen. Dan Harwood also added a solo home run for the Tom Sox in the fifth inning.

Maddison Furman got the start for the Tom Sox going four innings with four strikeouts. Alaska Abney came on in relief and recorded five strikeouts.

The Tom Sox host the Valley League's top team Strasburg on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
