CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- First-year forward Alexa Spaanstra paced the offense for the Virginia women's soccer team all season. That performance has earned the freshman some national honors.
Spaanstra was one of three forwards on the Freshman Best XI first team released by Top Drawer Soccer this week. Jarrett finished her first UVA season tied for the team lead in both goals (nine) and assists (six). Her 24 total points led the Cavaliers.
Spaanstra was three Cavaliers included on Top Drawer's postseason national teams. Fellow first-year forward Rebecca Jarrett made the Freshman Best XI second team after putting up six goals and two assists.
Junior Phoebe McClernon made the Best XI third team on defense after leading the Wahoos in minutes played, and helping anchor a UVA back line that held seven opponents to two or fewer shots this fall, and posted 10 shutouts.
