CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- (12) Virginia closes the game on a 5-0 run to upset (9) Princeton 14-9 on a rainy day at Turf Field.
The Cavaliers opened the game off the opening draw control by Maggie Jackson who found Annie Dyson for the unassisted opener. Virginia followed it up with two straight goals by Sammy Mueller to make it 3-0. Princeton would respond with their own 3-0 run to tie the game and ended the half on another 3-0 run to take a 6-5 lead.
Virginia took back control in the second half scoring four straight goals and eventually closed the game out with a 5-0 run capped by another Mueller goal.
Mueller lead the way tying a career-high with six goals, while Dyson and Maggie Jackson chipped in two goals a piece.
The game was also a homecoming for two St. Anne's-Belfield alums playing for the Tigers with senior Julia Haney scoring a goal, while junior Annie Cory who was out with an injury.
Virginia hits the road on Tuesday to play William & Mary at 5 p.m.
