CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- After dropping game one, Virginia hit four home runs in a 13-3 game two win to earn a doubleheader split with Florida State Saturday.
Florida State beat Virginia 5-3 in game one. With the win in game one, Florida State clinched the series, the second straight and fifth ACC series loss of the season for UVA.
The Cavaliers put the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth when Zack Gelof stole second base, but Brendan Rivoli struck out to end the game.
In game one, Virginia took a 1-0 lead on a Logan Michaels two-out base hit in the fourth inning. Florida State tied the game in the top of the fifth on a Drew Mendoza double and scored took the lead on a RBI groundout by Robby Martin.
Noah Murdock struggled through five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking three.
In game two, Cam Simmons got things started with a two-run home run in the third inning. In the fifth inning, Alex Tappen would deliver the big blow, a three-run home run to the bleachers in left field.
Simmons, Tappen, Tanner Morris and Nate Eikhoff all hit home runs in game two's win.
On the mound, Griff McGarry cruised through five innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out eight.
