SOUTH BEND, In. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia added another name to their future quarterback depth chart on Saturday with the commitment of South Bend, In. quarterback Ira Armstead.
Armstead announced his commitment on Twitter on Saturday morning, choosing the Cavaliers over 20 other offers.
The Indiana dual-threat quarterback passed for 2,202 yards, rushed for 1,104 and finished with 30 total touchdowns last season for South Bend Adams.
Armstead is the 8th commitment in Virginia's 2020 recruiting class. The Indiana-native will join a group looking to replace Bryce Perkins in 2020 along with current redshirt freshman Brennan Armstrong, sophomore Lindell Stone and freshmen Luke Wentz, RJ Harvey and Jared Rayman.
