UVA rallies to beat UConn 6-3

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- After going down 3-0 early, Virginia rallied to beat UConn 6-3 and move to .500 on the season.

The Cavaliers fell behind in the second inning after UConn's Chris Winkel cleared the bases on a three-run home run. The Huskies held the lead until the fourth when Brendan Rivoli responded with a solo home run to make 3-1.

But the Virginia bats turned up in the seventh with RBI singles from Cayman Richardson and Logan Michaels to tie the game at 3-3. Then Jack Weiller broke the tie in the eight with sacrifice fly followed by Nate Eikhoff and Richardson two out RBI singles to win 6-3.

Virginia got a big performance from their bullpen with seven shutout innings lead by Chesdin Harrington, who sat down all eight batters he faced in three innings.

The Cavaliers continue their home stand with a three game series against ACC for Pittsburgh starting Friday.
