UVA running back recruit impresses in state title game

BATON ROUGE, La. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia running back recruit Mike Hollins took the field in the Superdome Friday night in his University Lab High School (La) jersey, knowing it would be the last game he wore those colors.

Hollins took advantage of those moments, leading University Lab to a 55-46 state championship win. In the game, Hollins rushed for 237 yards on 27 carries. He also scored a Louisiana state championship game record four rushing touchdowns in the win.

He added a receiving touchdown on five catches for 47 more yards.

Hollins was named game MVP for his performance. He is a three star recruit by 247 Sports and Rivals.

He committed to the Cavaliers October 28, and confirmed that commitment in a tweet Saturday, saying he is "300% committed.


As a senior, Hollins rushed for 1,645 yards and scored 34 touchdowns.
