UVA upset bid falls short against Florida State

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia's upset bid came up short as they opened ACC play against (23) Florida State, falling 63-61, despite holding a lead late in the fourth.

After a Dominique Toussaint shot tied the game at 61-61, the Seminoles corralled a missed three and Valencia Myers got the go-ahead layup.

The Cavaliers were lead by St. Anne's-Belfield alum Bri Tinsley, who tied her career-high with 19 points. Virginia also got a big second half from Jocelyn Willoughby, who after going scoreless in the first half, scored 14 in the second. Florida State received another big performance from leading scorer Kiah Gillespie with 19 points.

Virginia will travel next to play Clemson on Sunday before returning home for their first game against rival Virginia Tech.
