CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Thanks to a pair of NCAA titles, Virginia has won its second Capital One Cup in men's athletics in the last five years.
UVA finished atop the 2018-19 men's standings with 127 points. The school earned 60 points each for its two NCAA titles, in men's basketball and men's lacrosse. The Wahoos also received six points for its No. 5 ranking in the final coaches poll in men's tennis, and one point for its 10th-place finish in men's swimming and diving.
In recognition of UVA's victory, Capital One will present the university with a trophy and a check for $200,000 for student-athlete scholarships at Wednesday's ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.
Stanford finished in second place in the Capital One Cup men's standings, with 88 points. Texas Tech (79 points), Maryland (75 points) and Vanderbilt (70 points) rounded out the top five.
UVA also won the Capital One Cup for men's sports in 2014-15, when the Wahoos won a school-record three NCAA championships -- men's soccer, men's tennis and baseball.
