LOS ANGELES, Ca. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia sophomore guard De'Andre Hunter is one of 25 players on the midseason watch list for this year's Wooden Award.
The Wooden Award goes to the best Division I college basketball player in the country each season. Hunter entered Wednesday night's ACC road opener at Boston College second on UVA this season in both scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (5.1 rpg), and third on the team in assists (2.2 apg).
Hunter is one of five ACC players on the midseason Wooden watch list, along with Duke freshmen RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson, Virginia Tech guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker and North Carolina forward Luke Maye.
The last Wooden Award winner from an ACC school was North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough in 2008. Ralph Sampson is the lone Wooden winner from UVA. Sampson won the award twice, in 1982 and 1983.
