Virginia comes up short to High Point at home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- (13) High Point continued their hot start to the season with a 14-13 win over (12) Virginia at Klöckner Stadium.

The Panthers started the fourth-quarter with three straight goals to take a 14-12 lead. The Cavaliers bounced back with a goal from freshman Jeff Conner to pull within one. After getting the ball back, Matt Moore had his game-tying shot attempt saved by High Point goalie Tim Troutner Jr.

Virginia started the game off scoring the first three goals before High Point responded with their own 4-0 run.

The Cavaliers were lead by attackmen Ian Laviano with four goals and Moore with 3 goals and four assists. Dox Aitken scored two goals to reach 100 career points becoming the 11th Virginia midfielder all-time to reach the century mark. High Point received a four goal game from Asher Nolting.

The Wahoos drop to 1-2 on the season and travel to face (19) Princeton on Saturday with faceoff set for noon.
