Virginia falls to South Carolina in NCAA 2nd round

COLUMBIA, S.C. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia's season came to an end with a 4-1 loss to South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Cavaliers got off to a quick start in singles with freshman Sofia Munera winning on court five (6-1, 6-3) to tie the match at 1-1. The Gamecocks would win on courts one, two and three to clinch the match 4-1.

Virginia finishes the season with 18 wins, which is the seventh most in program history.

Two Cavaliers will continue competing with Meghan Kelley in the NCAA singles championships as well as doubles with Munera from May 20th-25th.
