GREENSBORO, N.C. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia is back in the second round of the ACC Tournament after beating Boston College 77-61 in the first round on Wednesday.
Jocelyn Willoughby led the No. 12 seed Wahoos with a career-high 29 points -- including a 12-for-12 performance from the free throw line -- and 13 rebounds. It was her second double-double of the season. UVA also got double-figure scoring performances from Khyasia Caldwell (12 points), Dominique Toussaint (11 points) and Lisa Jablonowski (10 points).
UVA now faces No. 5 seed Syracuse at 11 a.m. Thursday in the second round. UVA has advanced to the quarterfinals in each of the past two seasons, but had a first-round bye in the bracket in both instances. The Cavaliers haven't won multiple games at the ACC Tournament since reaching the finals in 1994, and haven't upset a higher seed in the bracket since beating No. 4 seed Florida State as the No. 5 seed in the 2005 quarterfinals.
Virginia lost 72-68 at Syracuse in the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season.
