CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Monday at noon, the NCAA will announce the field of 64 that will compete for a shot at the College World Series. According to the latest projections, Virginia will not be one of those teams.
The Wahoos (32-24) are listed as one of the "Next Four Out" according to Baseball America. D1Baseball does not list the Cavaliers as a team in consideration for the NCAA Tournament.
Virginia dropped back-to-back games in the ACC tournament last week, falling to eventual champion North Carolina 3-2 in 10 innings Wednesday and 10-3 to Miami the following day. That gave the Cavaliers a 14-16 league record.
The Cavaliers rose to No. 43 in the RPI rankings prior to the NCAA Tournament. Now, Virginia sits at No. 47.
Virginia went to 14 straight NCAA tournaments in Brian O'Connor's first 14 seasons in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers missed the postseason last year for the first time under O'Connor.
