Wahoos up for an ESPY for 'Best Team'

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- In April, the Virginia men's basketball team won the program's first-ever national championship. Next week, the Wahoos can win the program's first-ever ESPY.

UVA is one of three NCAA champions among the seven teams nominated for the 2019 'Best Team' ESPY. The 2019 ESPYs award show will air at 8 p.m. on July 10 on ABC16.

Clemson's national championship football team and the NCAA women's basketball champion from Baylor are the other college teams among the ESPY finalists. Those teams are competing with the World Series champion Boston Red Sox, Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, NBA champion Toronto Raptors and the USA Women's National Team, which will play for a Women's World Cup championship on Sunday.

UVA capped a 35-3 season by beating Texas Tech 85-77 in overtime on April 8 for the first NCAA championship in program history.
