HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia trailed by five goals in the fourth quarter, but closed the game on a 6-0 run to top Maryland 13-12 in overtime in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
After scoring four straight goals to make it 12-11, Michael Kraus had a shot ricochet off the crossbar, which officials ruled a goal to tie the game at 12-12. In overtime, the Wahoos' Petey LaSalla won the opening faceoff to lead to the Matt Moore game-winning goal.
The Cavaliers were lead by senior Ryan Conrad with four goals, giving him nine goals on the tournament so far. Matt Moore contributed one goal and two assists on the day to become the first Cavaliers in program history to have 40 goals and 40 assists in a single-season.
Virginia will take on ACC rivals Duke in Philadelphia for the NCAA Semifinals next week after the Blue Devils beat Notre Dame 14-13 in overtime.
