Walker Imwalle competes in home run derby

HARRISONBURG, Va. (CBS19 Sports) -- Before today’s Valley League All-Star Game, some of the league’s best hitters showed off their bats at the home run derby. One of those hitters was Walker Imwalle, the first Tom Sox participant since 2015.

Imwalle, a senior from Davidson College, has hit three home runs so far this season with the Tom Sox.

"It's a great honor to be here participating in the home run derby," Imwalle said. "Just to be out here in front of all the scouts and put in a lot of hard work in my past. Lots of good players have come through the Tom Sox organization so it's definitely an honor to be here and represent Charlottesville."

Stasburg's Tyler Johnson won the derby, hitting three home runs. Imwalle had an impressive outing, finishing in second place with three home runs.
