CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Tom Sox faced Waynesboro for the third time in five games Monday night. And for the third time in those five games, the Generals beat the Sox.
Waynesboro used a five-run fifth inning to move in front, then added four more in the seventh en route to an 11-5 win in Charlottesville on Monday. That win moved the Generals four games in front of the Tom Sox in the South Division standings, and gave Waynesboro a Valley League-best 20 wins this summer.
The Generals did the bulk of their damage against Tom Sox relief pitcher Kirby McMullen, who was charged with eight runs on four hits and five walks in 2 1/3 innings. Gunner Peterson and Jackson Tate each had three of Waynesboro's 12 hits as a team.
Thomas Francisco and Christian Hlinka each had two hits for the Sox.
