CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Jocelyn Willoughby scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second half -- including 13 in the fourth quarter -- as Virginia rallied to beat American 57-54 on Wednesday night at John Paul Jones Arena.
The Cavaliers (4-5) have now won back-to-back games at home after a three-game winning streak. They'll host Radford on Saturday before taking a 12-day break for final exams. American dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
UVA trailed by as many as 13 points midway through the third quarter, but kept American off the board for the final 5:51 of the third and first 4:27 of the fourth quarter to erase that deficit. Willoughby scored the Cavaliers' first 10 points in the fourth quarter, and hit five of the team's six field goals in the final period, including three 3-pointers.
Willoughby's 25 points matched her career high. UVA also got a career-high 13 rebounds from Lisa Jablonowski. Cecily Carl led the Eagles with 21 points.
