The Rivanna Conservation Society teamed up with Environmental Virginia and UVa's Sustainability Club for this year's final cleanup event.

Since the spring local environmental organizations have come out to clean up trash along the Rivanna River and its streams.

On Saturday morning over 40 volunteers went to four locations focusing on picking up trash along Meadow Creek and the Rivanna Reservoir.

“It's wonderful to see so many people come out and support our organization as well as clean up the river, but our goal is to one day have a cleanup where there's no trash to be found,” says Robbie Savage, executive director of the Rivanna Conservation Society. “Where everybody cleans up after themselves and people don't have to follow up and clean up somebody else's trash.”

Today they collected over 75 bags of trash, along with broken bikes and dozens of shopping carts.
