Charges Upgraded to Capital Murder in Opal Page Case

Charges against two men accused of killing Opal Page, an elderly Nelson County woman, have been upgraded to Capital Murder.

A Grand Jury certified those charges Tuesday morning against Austin Griffin and Christopher Meeks.

In a previous court hearing, investigators said the two men admitted to breaking into Page's home. The medical examiner testified that they 73-year-old Page had more than two dozen stab wounds on her body.

Meeks and Griffin, 20 were arrested back in May of 2009. They were previously charged with first degree murder, larceny, grand larceny, and burglary.

Page was a retired teacher's aide, however she still helped out at Rockfish River Elementary.
