AFTON, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- A groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday for a new firearms warehouse and light manufacturing space in Nelson County.
Family-owned Zenith Quest Corporation is an import-export company that has been based in Afton for the past five years. Though still young, the company has seen exponential growth.
"The company has grown from three years ago, just having two staff at our office at Pantops, to now we have a dozen staff here [in Afton] and a dozen overseas as well," said facilities manager Ray Miles.
Natives of Turkey, Kutlay Kaya and his wife, Hanri, have been importing and exporting goods from Turkey for years.
For the past year and a half, Zenith Quest Corporation has been importing ammunition for sale at Wal-Mart.
With the new warehouse, they will import pistols and rifles for sale in the United States.
The 80,000 square foot facility will likely create 30 new jobs.
Actual construction is slated to begin in June and the company owners hope to have the warehouse up and running by January 2016.
