CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- A Costco is almost ready to open on July 30.
It is next to the Stonefield Shopping Center and across from the main Charlottesville post office branch on Emmett Street. It will be the company's 17th location in Virginia.
Anita Schwartz has been with the company for more than 30 years. She worked at the Harrisonburg location for eight and is now the general manager for the Charlottesville location.
"We're so excited to be coming into this market,” said Schwartz. “We've wanted to come into Charlottesville, and we know that it's going to be a great place for us.”
The massive building measures 148,000-square feet, not including the parking lot or gas station.
"It's central to those north of the city, east, west, and south. We've had our eye on the city for quite a few years now and this is exactly where we want to be located," said Schwartz.
The stoplights sitting in front of the wholesale store will become active when it opens. Local residents are already signing up for memberships at a temporary location in Seminole Square.
"We pride ourselves on quality. Quality in our products, but also quality in our employees," said Schwartz.
The company offers insurance for full- and part-time workers. Costco also does its promoting from within, and stores are closed on the holidays.
The Charlottesville store is also looking forward to working with the community on many different charity events and volunteer opportunities.
The company will have 180 to 190 employees to help sell the more than 4,000 products it caries.
*CORRECTION*: Costco will not be interviewing at the Holiday Inn.
