CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry has purchased a new facility on Lambs Road in Albemarle County, making for a permanent home.
The new facility will more than double the amount of food storage allowing the food pantry to serve more people.
Currently the pantry functions out of a location on Greenbrier Drive, but after three years there the pantry has outgrown that location.
"Right now we have a very cramped space for food distribution," said Margaret McNett Burruss, executive director for Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. "We don't really have enough parking, we have a very sort of cramped waiting room and so this is just going to expand that and it also provides office space, which we don't really have any right now."
Loaves and Fishes is launching a capital campaign to raise additional funds for renovation expenses.
The food pantry plans to move into the new facility in August.
