CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- The Virginia Discovery Museum on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall is fundraising for new exhibits.
The educational resource has been located on the mall for 25 years.
In conjunction with its 25th anniversary, the museum was awarded a Building Goodness Foundation grant to renovate its front gallery.
With a capital improvements campaign, the team is now trying to raise more than $100,000 to include brand new exhibits into the space once renovations are complete.
"It'll present an opportunity where we can take our programming, which is already wonderful, but be able to take it to the next level and have new and fresh and exciting exhibits and materials to share," said Interim Executive Director Beth Solak. "Lots of things have been updated obviously in the last 25 years from a technological standpoint and what kids are learning in school and when they're learning it and we really want to improve our programming through those new exhibits."
Solak said the museum sees about 50,000 visitors each year and is halfway to meeting its fundraising goal.
