CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) -- Charlottesville senior, Caleb Gage has a unique approach to free throws. But he has been doing the same thing since third grade.
"My coach, told us to make a routine and that's just what I picked up, basically. It just came to me, I just started dribbling and then I just got a little quick dribble and then it just game together."
When his current coach, Mitch Minor, first saw Gage's approach during his freshman year, his first thought was to correct it. But Gage's free throw percentage speaks for itself and Minor thought it was best not to mess with.
"Some things need to be left alone, because he is shooting nearly 80% from the free throw line, so I let him do a little shake and it's not for show, he does the same thing in practice as he does in a game, so I let him do the little shake and it is perfectly fine with me."
