RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- People who need to go to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will not be able to do so on certain days, including this Friday.

The DMV will be closed for several state holidays and to observe federal ones.

The first closure will be this Friday for Lee-Jackson Day. The DMV will also be closed on Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The state agency will also be closed for George Washington Day on Feb. 17, Memorial Day on May 25, Labor Day on Sept. 7, Columbus Day and Yorktown Victory Day on Oct. 12, and Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

The DMV says it will also be closed on July 3 to observe Independence Day.

However, people can still complete various tasks online, including renewing vehicle registrations.

The DMV says the holiday schedule for Thanksgiving and Christmas 2020 will be announced at a later date.
