CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two Charlottesville music education experts have launched a free music program for children between the ages of three and seven.

This is a virtual music program that children who are stuck at home can participate in with various music-related activities.

“Mike and I know other parents and teachers are looking for positive ways to engage with their kiddos during this stressful time,” said Mary Anderson, who co-founded My Music Starts Here with her husband Mike Anderson. “Our Spring 2020 Free Music Program is designed specifically to engage young children with music in a way that’s healthy for their brain development and brings a sense of joy and fun.”

The program consists of activities like Circle Time mimicking an activity young children often participate in at school, Music for Mindfulness offering parents and children calm and quiet, and Favorite Songs that families can sing together.

My Music Starts Here also has teacher and parent guides and offers weekly email tips and support for adults to engage their children.

There are also pre-school teacher education videos available to train teachers on the best practices and how to implement them effectively.
