CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Police Department says a man has been arrested on child pornography charges.

According to police, 37-year-old David Lapides of Charlottesville is facing two counts of possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography with intent to distribute.

CPD says it received a cyber-tip through the regional Internet Crimes Against Children task force that led to an investigation.

The Albemarle County Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Court records show the incident occurred in March.

Lapides is being held at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail.

The University of Virginia Health System says he has been placed on administrative leave and the university is cooperating with the investigation.

No other comment will be released at this time because it is a pending legal matter.
