CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank announced its recent food drive was able to secure 637,892 meals for those in need.

One in 12 people in the Blue Ridge area is food insecure, and with the community passing the 400,000 goal, the food bank is very grateful.

"With so much disunity in the world around us, to see people coming together in common cause like this, demonstrating what can happen when we come in unity is very heartwarming, uplifting," said BRAFB CEO Michael McKee. "If you didn't get the chance to give this time, there will be an even greater need in the fall."

The Unity in Community Food and Fund Drive was put on in partnership with CBS19.
