UPDATE 9/17/2021: The person who died in the crash in Nelson County Wednesday morning has been identified. There is also an update to information about the crash.

The two vehicles struck at a crest in the road and there is no centerline road marking at the scene of the crash, according to a news release.

The at-fault driver has not been determined yet and the crash is still being investigated. The Virginia State Police Appomattox Division Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is also helping investigate the crash.

The driver of the Hyundai, 19-year-old Davontae L. Irving of Gladstone, died at the scene. 

The driver of the F-350, 38-year-old Jacob I.C. Clark of Gladstone, was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

Neither of the drivers was wearing a seat belt. 
 

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One person died Wednesday morning in a crash in Nelson County.

 

The crash happened at 8:15 a.m. on Tye River Road, about a mile north of Richmond Highway. 

A 2017 Hyundai Elantra was traveling south and hit a 2000 Ford F-350 traveling north head-on.

According to a news release, the driver of the Hyundai was a male who died at the scene of the crash.

This is all the information released at this time as the crash is still being investigated by Virginia State Police.
