Pancakes for Parkinson's returns to in-person event on the Lawn
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An annual fundraising event is returning to the University of Virginia's Lawn this weekend.
Pancakes for Parkinson's is an outdoor pancake breakfast that raises money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
According to a release, the event was able to raise more than $30,000 in 2020 despite there not being an in-person event.
This year, organizers are looking to match pre-pandemic fundraising totals, with this year's goal set at $70,000.
A former UVA student started Pancakes for Parkinson's in 2003 to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
The foundation is a participating nonprofit in the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, so state employees can make donations directly to the organization.
The Pancakes for Parkinson's event will take place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the UVA Lawn.
