FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Charlottesville City Manager Chip Boyles will not be without a job after his resignation takes effect on Friday.

Fredericksburg Today is reporting that he has been named the new executive director of the George Washington Regional Commission.

The publication reports that the commission approved an employment agreement with Boyles on Monday after a national search to fill the position.

Boyles announced his resignation from Charlottesville two weeks ago.

He will be taking on his new role as of Nov. 1.

The city manager post remains open in Charlottesville.
