Nonprofits get grants to help seniors in need
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Several area nonprofits have received grant funding to assist with their work helping seniors in need.
Twice Is Nice, a resale boutique in Charlottesville, announced grants totaling $75,000 for eight nonprofits on Wednesday.
According to a release, the store has given more than $1 million to local nonprofits over the past decade, and since 2019, it has awarded grants to 17 organizations.
“The Twice Is Nice team thanks the community for over 30 years of amazing support,” said Lori Woolworth, Operations Manager at Twice is Nice. “Every day our shoppers, donors and volunteers help us successfully fulfill our mission to fund programs dedicated to helping seniors in need. Our business model, to resell gently used donations, offers our community an environmentally friendly and affordable retail option with flare and a passion.”
This year's grant recipients are the Albemarle Housing Improvement Project, All Blessing Flow, the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, the Local Food Hub, Loaves and Fishes, Meals on Wheels, Nursing Homes Swing, and the Piedmont Habitat for Humanity.
