CROZET, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- This Saturday, a local veteran and amputee ran an Iron Man triathlon for a good cause.

Kevin Blanchard began running for the first time on his prosthetic leg just five months ago. On Saturday, he ran, biked and swam a combined 70.3 miles, ending at Pro Re Nata brewery.

Afterward, when asked what the day meant to him, he got emotional and replied, “That I can do anything.”

All money raised from the event went to Homes for Our Troops and the Semper Fi Fund.
