ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- At Fashion Square Mall, the line for COVID-19 testing was wrapped around the parking lot again on Thursday.

There were so many cars, the people operating the testing site had to turn people away.

The testing site is first-come, first-served. It closes at 6 p.m. but on days like Thursday, staff has to start cutting off service at 5:30 p.m. in order to finish on time.

George Snyder was among those who weren't able to get their tests done. He had been waiting in line for an hour when they told him to come back next week.

“I got all the way around this big circle here, stood in line, it was 5:24, they put the cones up and closed the lot instead of 5:30, which is what I was told," he said. "You know, everybody needs tests right now.”

Fashion Square Mall will host another free COVID-19 testing clinic on Jan. 4.
