ORLANDO, Fl. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Former UVA men's soccer All-American Daryl Dike is headed back to England after signing a loan deal with West Bromwich Albion of the second-tier English League Championship.

Dike joins West Brom on a four-and-a-half-year contract after completing a transfer deal from MLS club Orlando City on Jan. 1.

The 21-year-old forward returns to England where he scored nine goals in 22 matches for Barnsley on loan during the 2020-21 season. Since an impressive loan, Dike returned to Orlando City where he had ten goals in 18 matches this past season. Dike also made his U.S. men's national team debut in 2021 and scored three goals in eight appearances.

The move to West Brom reunites Dike with Valérien Ismaël, who coached the former Wahoo at Barnsley. West Brom are currently fourth in the Championship standings and in a battle to be promoted to the Premier League, England's top soccer division. If Dike helped his new club gain promotion, he would become the first Cavalier to play at the top level in England since Claudio Reyna in 2003.
