Investigators believe Fluvanna apartment shooting was a targeted attack
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Fluvanna County investigators say a weekend shooting left an apartment riddled with bullets and it was a targeted attack.
The building was occupied when the shooters sprayed it was gunfire but people can help police find the gunmen.
Investigators found evidence that a handgun and a shotgun were used after recovering more than 20 casings.
They say the shots came from the parking lot and that people were inside at the time of the shooting but were not hurt.
Major David Wells with the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office said they haven't determined a motive for the shooting yet.
“I mean there was two people in the apartment this could have easily been a double homicide and like I said this is Fluvanna County," he said. "We like to keep things quiet. We don't like these types of shootings and we want to get it solved and get these people in jail as soon as possible.”
The sheriff's office is offering a $2,500 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
The residents opted not to comment, but they described the eight-home apartment complex as a quiet and tight-knit community that regularly holds barbecues together and rarely sees any type of commotion, making this act of violence all the more concerning.
