According to a release, there was a structure fire at the Big Meadows Lodge complex early Monday morning.

A visitor at the campground reported the fire around 2 a.m.

The buildings, a small maintenance building and the Blackrock guest cabin, were destroyed.

Crews from the National Park Services as well as the fire departments from Luray, Stanley and Elkton responded to the scene.

The Big Meadows Lodge, which is operated by Delaware North Corporation, has not yet opened for the season, so no one was inside the buildings at the time of the fire.
