ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Women's Committee, which is a part of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation, presented a check to the hospital on Thursday.

A grand total of $184,000 was donated to the hospital.

Over the past 29 years, the Women's Committee has helped filled the gap in the community for women's health.

Most of the money this year will go toward offering free breast cancer screening.

With this generous donation, Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital will be able to provide more than 200 free screenings, including ones that will be taking place this Saturday.

The money will also go toward high-risk cancer programs, resource centers and much more.

"The Women's Committee prides themselves of being women with a purpose, and as we celebrated their present last night, we were reminded that women with purpose don't stop and they quit when thing get tough and keeps going," said Kimberly Skelly, the executive director of the MJH Foundation.

Money is raised through events during the year, such as Martha's Market and the In the Pink tennis tournament.
