ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- First-grade students at St. Anne's-Belfield put their creative minds to the test in an effort to help get forever homes for animals at the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA.

Heidi Bennett’s students were working on their persuasive writing assignments when she decided to partner with the animal shelter to show the public all the lovable features of the animals, including cats, dogs, bunnies, and a bird.

Emily Swecker, the director of communications at the CASPCA, says she appreciates the hard work the students did in helping get the furry friends adopted.

"It’s really awesome to partner with children in our local schools because, you know, here we can take photos of animals, we can write bios, but it’s really interesting to get a different perspective, especially a child's perspective," she said. "Some of the bios are just really outside of the box in the way that they think, so we think that that's why the community responds really well to them."

For more information on any animals that are currently available for adoption, call the CASPCA at (434) 973-5959.
