CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (CBS19 Sports) -- For the 16th time in the last 17 seasons, Virginia men's tennis has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen: beating VCU 4-0 in the NCAA Championship second round.

The Cavaliers opened with the doubles point and added singles wins from Chris Rodesch (6-2, 6-2), Iñaki Montes (6-4, 6-3) and Gianni Ross (6-4, 7-5).

“I was really proud of the way the guys came out in doubles with great energy," said Andres Pedroso. "I wanted to see some improvement from yesterday and I did. That doubles point for us is really important. I feel really good against any team if we can win that doubles point. So if we come out the right way, we're going to look like that and play like that. That was the goal today.”

No. 7 Virginia advances to the Super Regional and will host No. 10 South Carolina on Friday, May 13. The winner between the two will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals in Champaign, Illinois.
