ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An Albemarle County family was displaced by a fire over the weekend.

The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue says the call for the fire came in around 2:50 a.m. Saturday.

Albemarle County Police Department officers responded to a home on the 400 block of Alwood Lane because of a report of an activated alarm.

When they got there, they saw smoke coming from the building and called for assistance from fire crews.

Career and volunteer units both responded by 3:10 a.m.

Officials were able to determine that no one was inside the home and they were able to quickly find and put out the fire, which was located in a wall near the kitchen and dining room.

The residents are currently staying in another building on the property.

While the cause of the ire is not considered suspicious, it is being investigated by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office.
