Charlottesville fills three openings in city government
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Charlottesville has announced the hiring of three people to various positions in the city’s government.
Two of these people have already worked for the city for several years and will be taking over new jobs in their departments.
According to a release, Mary Ann Hardie will be the new Director of Human Resources.
She has more than 17 years of experience, most recently working as the Human Resources Director for Lacey, Washington.
"Love the beautiful outdoors. Enjoy archery, running and kayaking. Love the hospitality and diversity here, and have really enjoyed the refreshingly sunny weather and the lack of gridlock traffic," said Hardie.
She will take up her role in Charlottesville on May 16.
The city has also hired Misty Graves to be the new Director of Human Services.
She has already worked for the city for 16 years, including holding positions in direct service, program supervision, and deputy director for the Department of Human Services.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to build on the existing work of the Department," said Graves. "Our department is comprised of dedicated staff that are committed to creating a more equitable and just community so all of our residents may thrive, and it’s my honor to work alongside them.”
Lastly, David Dillehunt will become the Deputy Director of Communications and Public Engagement.
He has worked in the Office of Communications since 2005, when he joined as a consultant.
He also served as a Communications Specialist for 11 years and was most recently the Multimedia Services Manager.
“We have an amazing community and I am grateful for this opportunity to continue serving our citizens,” said Dillehunt.
The city still needs to find a new permanent City Manager, Chief of Police, and Director of Communications among other openings.
