CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia Health System has been recognized as one of the best maternity hospitals in the country, according to Newsweek.

The UVA Medical Center received five ribbons for its care for new mothers and babies. These ribbons are based on three factors, including a national survey, a review of hospital data, and a review of patient satisfaction rates.

Wendy Horton, chief executive officer at UVA Health, says this accomplishment wouldn't be possible without the dedication of the entire hospital team.

“Not only do we have an expert team in OB/GYN taking care of the mother but we also have an amazing children's hospital as well, making sure that both the mother and the baby are well cared for," she said.

Across the country, just 161 hospitals earned the five ribbon rating, which is Newsweek's highest rating.
